Preparation is the most important part of a painting project.
 
Correct surface preparation;
  • enhances the protection offered by the final coat of paint
  • extends the protection lifetime
  • over the lifetime of the building saves the home or business owner money
 

Surface Preparation

Painting Steps

  • where necessary full area wash, depending on the build-up, either be power-washed or hosed down
  • scrape and sand all peeling paint areas
  • galvanized metal primer on all bare metal surfaces
  • TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate) or 'green' alternatives on dirt buildup or  mildew areas
  • wire brush flaking and deteriorating stucco
  • stucco-patch large areas in stucco or wood filling of any holes in wood siding
  • caulk small cracks in stucco
  • caulk seams in fascia boards
  • putty (glaze) older windows

 

 
Step 1: survey the job site
 
Step 2: perform surface preparation activities;
such as wash, scrape and sand all failing areas
 
Step 3: spot prime all scraped & sanded
areas
 
Step 4: paint / stain all areas
 
Step 5: clean up job site
 
Step 6: review completed job with home owner
